DIY Home Office Organization
It a new year and time for a new set of organizational projects. This year I decided to start in the place where I spend most of my time. My home office was in serious need of some organization and updating. There were several things that bugged me about my home office.
The desk was tucked away in the corner. I didn’t have a decent filing cabinet and my bulletin board was so boring. I set out to fix all these short comings in my home office and am so happy with the results.
De-clutter The Space
The starting point with any of my organizational projects is to de-clutter and clean the space. Label a couple of bags to include: garbage, or donate. Be brutal and get rid of everything in your office that doesn’t serve a purpose. After loading up several garbage bags, I was ready to begin my home office transformation.
I moved my desk to the center of the room (an easy and fast fix). To address the lack of storage, I moved an old filing cabinet being stored in the garage into this room. All the cabinet needed was a good cleaning and a fresh coat of paint! The best part is I used trim paint that I already had.
I got crafty with the bulletin board. I painted the frame to match the filing cabinet, covered the cork with a contemporary flowered fabric and finished off the edges with a black satin cord. My new home office space is now functional and beautiful. HGTV would be proud.
A DIY home office organization is possible with a little time and a small budget. I keep a well stocked make-up bag in my office for those necessary touch-ups throughout the day. A girl has to look good always. A bowl of fruit and healthy snacks is a staple in my home office.
Traveling with lipstick is my blog on travel, beauty and living life beautifully organized. I spend a lot of time in my home office and it is important for the space to be organized and welcoming.
